Our Phylosofy

        Most people with the autistic spectrum disorder need visual support to process information. Reading books with a visual aid, ie. Pictograms, improve their understanding of words and the contents of a book. We look for simple sentences with less abstract words, as well as introducing social words and emotions so that children can get a better understanding of the world around them.

        Books are great tools to teach disabled child about the world they live in. And that is why we publish social stories. These books teach them some of the unwritten rules of social life such as greeting when we see someone we know, waiting in line if others are waiting, how to behave at school, etc. We aim to cover everyday situations in our books. On the other hand, we also want to offer fantasy and stories both children and adults can have fun with while learning.

        Books with pictograms have the aim to reduce stress and frustration. If we help children understand what happens in every situation, It will bring their anxiety levels down. These books are meant to be read time and time again, that way, the reader will learn new vocabulary, and new routines and will understand changes better.

        Valeria Kiselova, is the mother of two beautiful girls. The oldest one is in the autistic spectrum. She started publishing books for children within the autistic spectrum in Spanish, once she got her child’s diagnosis. Her biggest goal is that all children have access to books. She read to her daughter over 10 books a day, every day. With some patience and hard work, she managed to teach her daughter to speak. Now she attends school and speaks 2 different languages.

        Spending time together, reading and learning, helps parents bond with their children. Reading before bed improves the child’s night sleep. If we were to summarise our books, this is what we would say:

        • They teach new vocabulary;

        • They help understanding emotions;

        • They reduce anxiety;

        • They teach values;

        • They help understanding social life;

        • They help improve behaviour;

        • They help improve language comprehension and expression.
