Dedicated to parents who have received an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.

6 months ago we received the diagnosis and we thought it was the end of the world.

Our girl didn´t form relationships, she didn´t speak, she didn´t make eye contact.

But passed 6 month of hard daily work our daughter already told her first words.

How do we practice development exercises at home?

We started looking for games our daughter was interested in. Apparently she wasn´t interested in anything, she would look very pensive and wouldn´t react when her name was called. She would throw all toys to the floor.

After watching the movie "Son Rose, A miracle of Love", we started looking for her regard. We bought toys that caught her attention like musical instruments, balls, planes. And little by little she would focus on the toys.

The first game we were able to enjoy together was a ball game. Our girl started smiling.

The next step was to learn what nestables were. Our daughter would throw any game on the floor. They helped us by making her jealous: I started playing with a 6-year-old girl next to my daughter, apparently demonstrating to the older girl how to play and suddenly my daughter came over and did the nesting alone and left. It was a large 4 piece nestable.

The same day we played the same with the older girl with a pyramid of rings. And the same thing happened: my daughter saw how I was playing with another girl and she came over and made the pyramid.

Some time later we started with speech therapist classes. That's where I learned the technique of teaching by forcing. It is there that we learned to say: “Look” and that is how I understood that by getting the look, we can teach her everything.
